Thomas Forest Bailey is a performance poet; he has twice won the Deloraine Poetry Slam and has been Tasmanian Poetry Slam Champion. Thomas placed third in the Australian Poetry Slam National final in 2022. He won the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup in 2021. Thomas has performed his poetry from the street to the Opera House and lots of places in between. His anthology Lashings of Whipped Dream is published by Walleah Press.
Thomas resides mostly in Tullah, on the West Coast of lutrawita-Tasmania, but likes to over winter in the warmer climes of Bundjalung and Yagara Country. His poetry is sometimes humorous, oftentimes rhymey and ranty and rarely sublime.
Thomas will be kicking-off the Festival with Sarah Lock, Moran Weisel, and musician Rob van der Elst, at the Friday Night Feature. But there’s no need to wait: join Thomas at the “Ecopoetica” workshop, on Friday afternoon (11th).
