Rob Van Der Elst was born in the Netherlands and migrated to Australia as a child. He was ‘thrown in at the deep end’, expected to learn English without formal instruction. This no doubt contributed to his resilience. Rob has lived most of his life in rural Tasmania. His guitar playing alone is worth hearing. Added to this, he sings his own creations, along with the beautiful folk and country rock ballads of the 1960s and ‘70s.
Rob will be kicking-off the Festival with Sarah Lock, Moran Weisel, and Thomas Forest Bailey, at the Friday Night Feature.
