The Andrew Hardy Youth Poetry Prize is awarded in memory of Andrew Hardy, who died at the age of 22, in 1997.
Andrew Hardy was not only a poet of great potential, but his sudden and unexpected death deprived us of his keen intelligence, his warm personality and his idiosyncratic and zany genius. His touch was always deft, no matter what the subject, and his sense of tone is exact and knowing.

The Andrew Hardy Youth Poetry Prize is offered for an original poem of 50 lines or less, by a young Tasmanian poet (resident in Tasmania). There are two sections: 8 – 15 years, 16 – 25 years and all entrants are published in an anthology which they will receive a copy of.
Please note: entries have closed.
The Andrew Hardy Youth Poetry Prize will be announced during the Saturday afternoon session at the Tasmanian Poetry Festival 2024.
