The highlight of the weekend is the iconic Launceston Poetry Cup. Open to all, our poets have just one minute to impress the audience with a piece of original work.

How to enter/FAQs/what to expect
Anyone attending the event in person may enter. They will deliver an original poem in strictly one minute or less. A hooter sounds at one minute.
The winner is decided on the volume and positive enthusiasm of the audience’s applause/response received.
The winner receives a small cup and their name is engraved on the large perpetual Launceston Poetry Cup.
Register for the cup from 6:30pm at the venue.
Note on Saturday morning open mic session
The Saturday morning open mic is not necessarily a practice run for the Cup, but it could be. Please keep in mind that we’d love to see more people present their poems, not necessarily more performances by a few! So please be aware of who else you could encourage to have a go at either/any opportunity.
