David has been writing and performing poetry since the 1970s. Winner of the
2019 Reciter of the Year award, twice winner of the Poetry Olympics at the
Sydney Writers Festival, plus Woodford Story Award and Byron Writers Festival poetry prize.
David has taken his poetry from outback schools and major festivals to the
Sydney Opera House, to the beat cafes of New York. Host of two of Australia’s longest running spoken word events for 30 years in Lismore and Byron Bay, David’s poetry jumps from the page to the stage, from the comedic to the satiric to the deadly serious, addressing issues of climate chaos, war and peaces, the spin of money and media, love, shopping and our maddening digital world.
Hear David at the Festival during guest poet sessions on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
